In Monoceros, a discreet constellation in Orion's shadow, shines this blue B-type star, with surfaces that can reach several tens of thousands of degrees. Its light set out 640 years ago, around 1384, when the florin was being minted in Nuremberg and the Hanseatic cities dominated northern European trade. Young and massive, its glow belongs to those stars that will only shine for a few hundred million years before burning out.

HIP 29629 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
