Its story

Beneath the feet of Orion runs the Hare, and there shines this orange K-type giant. Its light took two hundred eight years to reach us: it set out around 1818, when Mary Shelley was publishing her Frankenstein in London and opening a new era for European literature. Cooler and far more voluminous than the Sun, it is one of those orange embers that populate the winter sky —a silent echo of the fire it once was, much like our own.
