Variable star

Its story

A red variable in Lepus: her brightness shifts, pulses, beats to her own rhythm. Her light has been travelling 486 years —it set out around 1540, while Copernicus was finishing his heliocentric treatise that would soon dethrone the Earth from the centre of the cosmos. Variable M stars are bodies ageing aloud, dilating and contracting like cosmic lungs.
