What is Delta Leporis

Delta Leporis is a yellow star of the hare that crouches at Orion's feet. About 114 light-years away, it shares the Sun's spectral lineage but later in life —swollen and cooler than it once was. When the hunter dominates the winter sky, it barely emerges —a golden wink in the shadow of giants.

Where it is and when to see it

Delta Leporis lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
