106 Tauri shines with the white light of an A-type star at the edges of Taurus, far from the clamour of the Pleiades and Aldebaran. Its light comes from some 189 light-years away: it left around 1837, when Victoria was ascending the British throne. It is one of those stars Flamsteed catalogued with the patience of a celestial notary, small white embers along the quiet outline of the cosmic animal.

106 Tauri lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December, when it culminates around midnight.
