In Eridanus, the celestial river meandering from Orion toward the south, a yellow G-class sun shines 756.8 light-years away. A distant relative of our own, its light takes more than seven centuries to arrive: tonight's beam set out when Dante was finishing the Divine Comedy in his Ravenna exile and the Italian language was fixing its literary form for ever.
