Its story
On the dark banks of Eridanus shines an orange K-class giant, lying some three hundred and eight light-years away. Its coppery light departed when English clockmakers were tuning the first marine chronometers and, in the Pacific, European ships were charting islands still nameless on their maps. It is an ageing star, much broader than the Sun but cooler, settled in that long calm that follows its youth.
