Delta Horologium
What is Delta Horologium
δ Horologii shines white and serene at 179 light-years, set within the small southern constellation of the Clock that Lacaille named in tribute to the pendulum clocks of his age. An A-class star, hotter and whiter than the Sun, still young, it glows with the clean light only stars of fresh hydrogen can give off. A discreet flame within a constellation almost no one knows how to name.
Where it is and when to see it
Delta Horologium lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
