What is 43 Persei
43 Persei is a yellow-white F-type star roughly one hundred and twenty-two light-years away, a modest distance on a galactic scale that makes it one of the closer residents of Perseus. Slightly hotter and more luminous than the Sun, its light departed around the time the cinematograph was taking its first steps. Within the constellation's drawing it sits far from the famed Algol, yet shares with it the same region rich in young stars of the galactic arm.
Where it is and when to see it
43 Persei lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
