What is Nu Persei

Nu Persei is an F-type giant burning at 557 light-years, in a region of Perseus crowded with young stellar associations and thick with galactic dust. Its yellow-white colour falls right at the boundary between the hot stars and the solar ones: a tone almost indistinguishable to the naked eye, yet betraying a surface hotter than the Sun and a shorter lifespan ahead.

Where it is and when to see it

Nu Persei lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
