Miram
Eta
Highly luminous starIts story
Miram shines in Perseus, the hero who beheaded Medusa, and forms part of the robust silhouette of the mythic figure. A luminous orange K-class giant nearly 880 light-years away, it is an old and immense star whose brilliance, softened by distance, reaches the eye much gentler than it truly is. The light caught by the pupil tonight left its surface around the time of the Norman conquest of England.
