Variable starIts story
In Perseus, hero of the winter sky, a variable blue B-type star shines about 542 light-years away. Its light set out around 1484, while in Florence Botticelli was painting «The Birth of Venus» and the Medici sustained the Quattrocento. Its slow pulse and bluish hue speak of an incandescent youth, far hotter than the Sun.
