What is 62 Arietis
62 Arietis travels from 884 light-years, in the head of the zodiacal Ram. It is a yellow G-type giant, swollen and luminous, whose light set out in the heart of the European Middle Ages —when no eye on Earth yet had a telescope. Today, any human eye barely adapted to darkness can catch it. An ancient ember that has survived whole centuries through nebulosity and galactic dust.
Where it is and when to see it
62 Arietis lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
