Nearby starIts story
Zeta-1 Reticuli is a yellow G-type star just 39 light-years away, nearly a twin of the Sun in temperature and mass, set in the small southern Reticle. With Zeta-2 it forms one of the closest known pairs of truly Sun-like stars: two genuine solar analogues, separated by thousands of astronomical units and bound in a slow gravitational embrace. The light arriving tonight set out in the late 1980s, when walls were falling and the first links of the Internet were being woven.
