Zeta2 Reticuli is a yellow G-type star a mere 39 light-years away, one of the closest known solar twins. Together with its companion Zeta1 it forms one of the most famous optical pairs in the southern sky — wide enough apart to be split with the naked eye under dark, light-pollution-free skies.

Zeta 2 Reticulum lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is September: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
