52 Arietis is a blue B-class sun within the Ram, a constellation whose zodiacal role is historic even if it now holds few prominent stars. Its surface reaches temperatures far above the Sun’s, making it shine with a cool, bluish-white tone despite lying more than five hundred light-years away. That light set out during the European Renaissance, long before its spectral class could even be defined.
Where it is and when to see it
52 Arietis lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
