Its story
Epsilon Fornacis is a high-proper-motion binary 105 light-years away, in the small southern constellation of the Furnace, one of the figures Lacaille drew from the Cape of Good Hope in the eighteenth century. Its primary is an orange subgiant with a peculiar shortage of iron and carbon. The pair orbits each other in a long ellipse with a period of about 38 years — a single revolution barely fits within a human lifetime.
