What is Iota 2 Fornax
ι² Fornacis shines within the Furnace, a southern constellation drawn by Lacaille in the 18th century. A yellow-white F-type star some 111 light-years away, a relatively near distance in cosmic terms, her surface is slightly hotter and more luminous than the Sun's, and her marginally whiter tint shows in any careful observation.
Where it is and when to see it
Iota 2 Fornax lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is October: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
