Its story

11 Andromedae is an orange star classified as a K0 hypergiant, a rarity among the evolved giants sharing its corner of the sky. It glows at magnitude 5.44 from 286 light-years, just enough to be picked out under dark, quiet skies. It is drifting away from the Sun at 11 km per second, carrying with it a warm light that will take centuries to reach more distant destinations.
