Its story
In Grus, the southern crane introduced by sixteenth-century Dutch navigators, an orange K-class sun shines 311 light-years away. Its warm hue softens the dense black of the southern hemisphere. The light now reaching telescopes departed when Newton was publishing the Opticks and the very nature of light was beginning to be understood as physics rather than philosophy.
