Variable starIts story
63 Andromedae is a hot blue B-type star and a gentle variable, 392 light-years away, in a quieter corner of Andromeda far from the great galaxy that lends the constellation its name. Its brightness is not quite constant: it shifts slightly, a delicate pulsation invisible to the eye yet caught by photometric detectors. The light arriving tonight left around 1633, at the height of the Spanish Golden Age.
