Hot blue starIts story
25 Pegasi is a hot blue B-type star in the constellation of the winged horse, about 609 light-years away. Its light left around the 15th century, when the workshops of Florence were debating the new laws of perspective. Such blue stars shine with an almost violent intensity, squandering energy in a life that is brief on the cosmic scale; to see it today is to contemplate a fragment of light emitted when Europe was barely beginning to call itself modern.
