Hot blue starIts story
23 Pegasi belongs to the great winged horse of Pegasus, whose quadrilateral dominates the autumn sky of the northern hemisphere. It is a blue B-type star 347 light-years away, with a surface that comfortably exceeds 10,000 K and an intrinsic glow far brighter than the Sun's. B stars are fleeting on cosmic timescales: they burn with luminous violence and cross the stage quickly, leaving behind some of the most intense spectacles in the universe.
