30 Aquarii is a K-type orange giant 304 light-years away, set inside the Water Bearer already drawn by Babylonian clay tablets. Its warm light crosses the autumn sky with the calm of mature stars, neither furious like the blue giants nor faint like the dwarfs. That light set out when Newton was still publishing his final works.
