Its story
28 Aquarii is an orange K2III giant aged 2.9 billion years, long past its youth on the main sequence. Having exhausted its core hydrogen, it has swollen to 28 solar radii and now radiates 258 times the Sun's light from a surface at 4,361 K. Its faint glow of magnitude 5.6 crosses the celestial Water Bearer for 715 years before reaching Earth.
