Gamma Pavonis is a close neighbour of the Sun: only 30 light-years away, she is one of the few yellow stars comparable to ours visible to the naked eye. Slightly more massive, slightly hotter and around seven billion years older, she is poor in heavy elements and belongs to the old galactic disk. The light arriving tonight left the Peacock when the United States Constitution was being signed.
