What is 19 Aquarii
19 Aquarii is a yellow-white F-type star 300 light-years away, slightly hotter and more luminous than the Sun. It lives in Aquarius, a zodiacal constellation linked in many cultures to the great floods of the Nile or the Tigris. Its light departed around 1725, when Edmond Halley was still calculating the return of the comet that would bear his name.
Where it is and when to see it
19 Aquarii lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
