Its story
1 Pegasi leads Flamsteed's catalogue of the Winged Horse, an orange K-type giant burning some 156 light-years away. Its light, ruddier and calmer than the Sun's, set out toward us when movable type was still a European novelty. It glows in the northwestern corner of Pegasus, far from the Great Square, where the eye usually pauses before leaping toward the horse's head. A quiet lantern in a region many travellers cross without stopping.
