Mu Aquarii
What is Mu Aquarii
An A-type white in Aquarius, 157 light-years away, young and hot compared with our yellow Sun. Its light belongs to the bright tier of nuclear youth: hydrogen burning steadily in the core, untroubled by the complications of an aged giant. It glows quietly among the streams of water poured by the Cup-Bearer — one of the most ancient zodiacal constellations, already engraved on Mesopotamian tablets nearly four thousand years ago.
Where it is and when to see it
Mu Aquarii lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
