Its story
1 Aquarii is an orange K-class star at the head of the Water-Bearer, around 233 light-years away. Its surface, cooler than the Sun's, tints its light with a warm, ancient hue; at that range its magnitude 5.15 implies a giant tens of times more luminous than our daytime star. The light arriving tonight set out in the last quarter of the 18th century, when the first modern southern sky charts were being drawn.
