Highly luminous starIts story
47 Cygni is an orange supergiant lost among the Swan's feathers, about 2,760 light-years away. Its light, already ancient by the time it reaches our telescopes, travelled for centuries before crossing paths with Earth. A luminous K-type star —vast, cool at the surface, yet able to outshine hundreds of suns when measured by sheer power.
