20 Vulpeculae is a Be star of type B7, spinning at a dizzying 236 km per second —close to seventy percent of its critical break-up velocity— with a polar inclination of 71 degrees. Four times the Sun's mass, it radiates 460 times more light from a photosphere at 12,050 K. It shines at 805 light-years in the small Vulpecula, a blue-white point torn from the dark.
Where it is and when to see it
20 Vulpecula lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
