25 Cygni lives 1,321 light-years deep into the Swan, a B-class blue subgiant several times hotter than the Sun and thousands of times more luminous. Its brightness is not perfectly steady —hence its variable tag, V1746 Cyg— with subtle oscillations that hint at inner processes still under study. The light reaching us tonight set out around the year 700 AD.

25 Cygni lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
