ψ Cygni is set within the wing of the Swan, one of the most recognisable figures of the northern summer sky. White and of A-type, some 281 light-years away, her quiet brilliance contributes to the outline of the Northern Cross, an asterism shaped by the main stars of Cygnus and crossed by a dense band of the Milky Way.

Psi Cygni lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August, when it culminates around midnight.
