What is HIP 97985
In the luminous river of Cygnus, deep in the Milky Way, burns a yellow-white star at 1,204 light-years. Its light departed when Charlemagne was being crowned emperor in Rome and a new political order was taking shape at the heart of Europe. It is a luminous F class star, hotter and brighter than the Sun, lost among countless neighbors in one of the most densely populated regions of the northern night sky.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 97985 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
