Its story
Near the archer's arrow in Sagittarius pulses this yellow-white F-type star, lying about 160 light-years away. Its light started the journey in the late 1860s, when Mendeleev was presenting the first periodic table and the Suez Canal was opening. A touch hotter than the Sun, it feels like an older sister, one step further along the colour scale. We see it today through the gaze of the nineteenth century, anchored to the depths of the Milky Way.
