Highly luminous starIts story
Along the long body of the Swan shines a rare and extraordinarily luminous white star, 1,965 light-years away. Its light set out around the year 60, when Rome lived under the reign of Nero and the Empire stretched across the Mediterranean basin. Far hotter and thousands of times brighter than the Sun, it is a distant white beacon tangled within the feathers of the celestial bird.
