112 Herculis is a hot B-type blue star 406 light-years away, set on the eastern reaches of the Hero. Its light, far hotter than the Sun's, crossed four full centuries before meeting our telescopes. It belongs to that lineage of massive suns whose youth burns so fast that their entire biography lasts only a fraction of the Sun's.
Where it is and when to see it
112 Herculis lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is July: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
