What is 18 Sagittarii
18 Sagittarii burns orange in Sagittarius, the constellation that points toward the heart of the Milky Way, where the galaxy's central black hole hides. It is a K-type giant some 640 light-years away, with a golden tone that betrays a surface noticeably cooler than the Sun's. The light reaching us today began its journey in the Middle Ages, before Gutenberg had even printed his first book.

18 Sagittarii lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky.
