18 Sagittarii burns orange in Sagittarius, the constellation that points toward the heart of the Milky Way, where the galaxy's central black hole hides. It is a K-type giant some 640 light-years away, with a golden tone that betrays a surface noticeably cooler than the Sun's. The light reaching us today began its journey in the Middle Ages, before Gutenberg had even printed his first book.
