Hot blue starIts story
9 Sagittarii lies at the heart of the Lagoon Nebula, one of the most famous star-forming regions in the summer sky. It is a rare O-type star —massive, intensely blue, devouring the gas around it— whose ultraviolet radiation sculpts the very cloud that gave it birth. One of the great lanterns lighting the Lagoon from within.
