Hot blue starIts story
Its blue light left Sagittarius around the year 213, when Caracalla was extending Roman citizenship and the Parthians were shaking the empire's eastern borders. It is a B-type star, blazing and bluish-white, far hotter than the Sun. Sagittarius —the centaur archer— aims his arrow straight at the heart of the Milky Way, where nebulae, clusters and the galaxy's central black hole are gathered.
