Its story

Within the ancient constellation of the Altar shines a G-type yellow star 395 light-years away. The light reaching the night sky tonight set out around 1631, in the thick of the Thirty Years' War across central Europe. It shares the Sun's colour and temperature but outstrips it in size and luminosity: a familiar flame and, at the same time, far vaster.
