Nu Serpens
What is Nu Serpens
Nu Serpentis shines at two hundred light-years within the Serpent's body, that constellation split into two halves and held by the healer Ophiuchus. It is a white A-type star, young and luminous, set in Serpens Caput —the reptile's head. Its cold light crosses the air and settles into one of the few constellations in the sky that mythology designated as divided.
Where it is and when to see it
Nu Serpens lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is June: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
