What is Nu Serpens

Nu Serpentis shines at two hundred light-years within the Serpent's body, that constellation split into two halves and held by the healer Ophiuchus. It is a white A-type star, young and luminous, set in Serpens Caput —the reptile's head. Its cold light crosses the air and settles into one of the few constellations in the sky that mythology designated as divided.

Nu Serpens lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is June, when it culminates around midnight.

From London it culminates about 26° above the horizon.
From New York it culminates about 36° above the horizon.
From Sydney it culminates about 69° above the horizon.

It can be seen from anywhere south of 77° N.
