Lambda Serpentis is one of our neighbours: at only 39 light-years, a yellow dwarf nearly twin of the Sun, just 9% more massive and 6% wider. In 2020 radial-velocity measurements flagged a candidate planet of about 14 Earth masses orbiting it every 15 days, likely a hot Neptune. It is closing on the Solar System at more than 66 km per second — among the swiftest of nearby stars.
