Hot blue starIts story
13 Scorpii burns some 479 light-years away, a blue-white beacon in the Scorpion's head. It belongs to the Upper Scorpius association, a vast nursery of young stars —only a few million years old— where massive suns ignite one after another. Carrying several solar masses, it lives a brilliant, short life, doomed to fade out while a star like our Sun is barely warming up.
