Highly luminous starIts story
1 Lupi is a highly luminous star in Lupus, leaning into the southern sky almost 2,000 light-years away. It belongs to the F family, those whitish-yellow stars hotter than the Sun, with calm photospheres. At such a distance, its light takes so long to reach us that the flicker crossing the atmosphere tonight left its surface when, on Earth, the Byzantine empire still stood and the first European universities had yet to be founded.
