In the southern Wolf, a Mediterranean constellation inherited from the Greeks, burns a blue B-type star at 551 light-years. Its light set out as the Catholic Monarchs were moving toward the dynastic union of Castile and Aragon, even before the Atlantic discovery. Its surface easily exceeds ten thousand degrees —twice the Sun— bathing it in the blue tone proper to the youngest stars.

HIP 73111 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is May: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
