Highly luminous starIts story
Deep within Cassiopeia pulses an extraordinarily luminous orange giant 2,204 light-years from us. Its light departed around the year 178 BCE, when the Han dynasty was consolidating its power across China and opening the Silk Road. Cooler than the Sun, it is yet thousands of times brighter: an aged orange colossus whose radiance crosses millennia.
