Its story
It belongs to Lupus, the celestial wolf prowling beside the southern centaur. Its white light, proper to A-class stars, suggests a high temperature and a relatively young age. What we see today set out some 306 years ago, when the Bourbons had just settled onto the Spanish throne and the Real Academia Española had been newly founded. Hotter and more luminous than the Sun, it shines with a pure, almost metallic white that quietly upholds the wolf's outline in the southern sky.
